LACEY, NJ — A woman was killed Friday when she and an infant were ejected from a car during a crash on the Garden State Parkway in Lacey, New Jersey State Police said Saturday.

Lopez was in the back seat of a Toyota sedan with the infant when the crash happened shortly before 3 p.m. at milepost 75.8 northbound in Lacey, Lebron said.

Johan Mendez, 26, of New York, NY, was driving the Toyota north when it veered off the road to the left and hit the guiderail, Lebron said. The car then went back onto the road and collided with a Hyundai sedan that also was headed north, causing Lopez and the infant to be ejected, he said.

Two other passengers in Mendez's car and Mendez also suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment, he said.

The driver of the Hyundai, who was not identified, suffered minor injuries, Lebron said.

The crash closed the northbound lanes of the Parkway for nearly three hours in the area, with the lanes finally listed as reopened shortly before 6 p.m.

Lebron said the crash remains under investigation.
