LACEY, NJ — Popcorn Park Animal Refuge in Forked River will host its first Halloween celebration next month, bringing a weekend of family activities, animal encounters and seasonal treats to the refuge.
The event, called Boo at the Refuge, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 18, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., the refuge announced Wednesday. VIP ticket holders will be able to enter early beginning at 11 a.m.
The refuge said the weekend will include trick-or-treating, crafts, games, costumes and animal encounters. Attendees also will be able to join a costume parade and contest, meet Popcorn Park's animal ambassadors and take in Halloween decorations and activities throughout the property.
Adults are also part of the target audience for the event. The announcement said adults can enjoy Halloween cocktails and beer from breweries during the celebration.
"Popcorn Park has always been a place where people can come together to connect with animals, and we're excited to bring that spirit into the Halloween season with Boo at the Refuge," said Cory Scott, Director of Popcorn Park Animal Refuge.
