Barnegat Business Raising Money For Local Family
Big Barlow's raising money for Memphis Rank.

Due to the CoronaVirus situation, Big Barlow's BBQ & Catering, located at 21 South Main Street in Barnegat, is temporarily closed. However, that doesn't mean that Chris Barlow is enjoying a vacation at home. He has been spending his time raising funds to deliver meals to those workers that are on the frontline ensuring the health and safety of our community. Mike Rank, of Mike Rank Roofing, was one of those members of the community that made a sizeable donation to assist Barlow with his efforts.
However, recently the Rank family experienced a tragedy of their own as their 2 year old son Memphis was involved in a terrible accident. Currently at CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia), Memphis has undergone successful surgeries, with a long road still ahead for him. Barlow described Mike Rank as "like a brother to me. He has done a lot for the community asking for nothing in return."
Therefore, on Saturday May 2nd, Barlow's will be opening up for the one day at 12PM to serve the public and donating 20% of the sales to a trust fund that is in the process of being set up for the Rank family. The menu for that day plans to include Brisket Platters, Pulled Pork Platters, Smoked Wings and Ribs. Various sides will also be available. As of press time, Barlow stated that he is expecting at least 400 people to show up for this curbside pickup event. He is planning on being at the restaurant until 8PM, or until the food runs out. Food can be ordered through his app or by calling (609) 549-3640.

Simply Hair & Nails, located at 227 N Main Street in Manahawkin, is donating a $350 Gift Basket. P&K Firearms & Ammo, Inc., located at 63 E. Bay Avenue in Manahawkin, is providing a $100 Gift Certificate for auction. There will also be a Yeti Cooler up for auction. Anyone who is interested in donating to the auction can contact Barlow through his facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/bigbarlowsbbq.
Chris Barlow described an astronomical amount of food that he will be preparing that day. Nonetheless, one should order and pickup early to ensure that you will be able to indulge in these culinary barbecue treats. By the way, I heard through the grapevine that pulled pork was one of Memphis's favorites.
