Barnegat Women's Club Donates To Mt. Zion

The Horizons at Barnegat Women's Club bring major donation to Mt. Zion last weekend.

Last weekend was a big one for Maddie Stapleton at the Lacey United Methodist Church, located at 203 West Lacey Road in Forked River. As co-chair of the Joy of Angels Thrift Shoppe with Laura McDonald, Stapleton hosted a very successful Grand Re-Opening of the store last Saturday. In addition, the sign arrived that weekend for another mission that she chairs in cooperation with Vetwork known as Mt. Zion. Vetwork is a not-for-profit organization that is run by volunteer veterans, with a large number of disabled veterans as part of their staff. Some of the issues they assist veterans with include employment, substance abuse , PTSD and housing, among many other items that our ex-servicemen and women deal with. Thomas Kiselow of the United States Marine Corps is the Executive Director.

Mt. Zion is a mission at the Lacey United Methodist Church designed to house up to four veterans presently and their families, if applicable. That very same weekend mentioned above saw the Horizons at Barnegat Women's Club bring Mrs. Stapleton a $500.00 check to be used towards any upkeep and remodeling of the designated rooms. In addition, they also brought with them a $100.00 Home Depot gift card and another $50.00 gift card to be used towards paint and supplies, as well as room furnishings.

Two personal gift bags were also put together by these wonderful ladies for the two veterans currently staying at Mt. Zion and for the next two veterans that will be moving in as a way to welcome them and thank them for their service. The first bag from Target included three gift cards, a blanket, two towel sets, toiletries, a cap, four pair of socks, patriotic pens and document folders. The second Target bag included breakfast food items, microwave meals, soup and crackers, cookies, peanut butter crackers and cups and bowls. This group has already donated bed sheets, blankets, pillows and bathmats for this mission. To find out more about the Mt. Zion mission, contact the LUMC Office at (609) 693-5222.
