Best Spot For Labor Day Picnics Is This Ocean Co. Beach, Survey Says
New Jerseyans voted this beautiful local beach as their top pick for a Labor Day picnic, according to a poll by FamilyDestinationsGuide.com.
BERKELEY, NJ — How are you spending the unofficial end to summer? Many love to enjoy a barbecue or spend time outside on Labor Day. But New Jerseyans prefer one local spot for a holiday picnic, according to a recent survey.
Travel site FamilyDestinationsGuide.com polled 3,000 residents to find their favorite spots for a Labor Day barbecue/picnic. The top choice? The beautiful Island Beach State Park, here in Ocean County.
"The park's pristine beaches, rolling dunes, and serene coastal landscapes create a stunning backdrop for a memorable outdoor gathering," the website said in a news release. "Families can enjoy picnicking in the designated areas, surrounded by the park's natural beauty, while soaking in the calming atmosphere of the beach."

Activities like swimming, beachcombing and bird-watching are perfect as both pre- and post-picnic fun, FamilyDestinationsGuide.com said.
New Jersey's other top two spots are Cheesequake State Park in Matawan and Sandy Hook National Recreation Area in Highlands.
