Blueberry Picking In Ocean County: Hidden Gems
Blueberry season is just kicking off in New Jersey. Here are some great places to pick your own in Ocean County:

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — A hot summer day is incomplete without some fresh blueberries.
In New Jersey, where highbush blueberries were first cultivated, there are plenty of opportunities to purchase these tasty fruits. But it's also fun to go pick them yourself.
Luckily, there are several great places to go pick your own blueberries in Ocean County.

Popular spots include Emery's Farm in New Egypt (also a great spot for pies!) and Argos Farm in Forked River (only open during their Blueberry Festival, June 21 through July 7).
But these are some hidden gems for blueberry picking that are more off the beaten path.

U-Pick Blueberry Patch
611 Route 9, Lanoka Harbor
This spot, located at Lanoka Farms, opened for the season on June 13. It's open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entry fees are $2 for those ages three and up and $1 for seniors. Then, blueberries cost $3 per pound. Check Facebook for the latest information.
Champion U-Pick Blueberry Farm
60 Cherry St., Whiting
The cash-only patch opens for the season on June 15 at 7 a.m. Blueberries cost $2 per pound. No pets are allowed and boots and bug spray are recommended. Days and hours can vary based on weather; keep up to date with their Facebook page.
