Celebrate Earth Day By Cleaning Up Forked River Mountains
The Forked River Mountain Coalition is hosting its 29th annual cleanup for Earth Day.
LACEY, NJ — Help take care of our planet on Earth Day locally by joining the Forked River Mountain Coalition (FRMC), in cooperation with the Ocean County Parks Department and the Pinelands Preservation Alliance, with their annual Forked River Mountain cleanup.
This will be their 29th annual cleanup. FRMC said last year "a skeleton crew of volunteers" cleaned up five tons of debris, bringing the 28-year grand total to 717 tons.
Those interested must pre-register. On the day of cleanup, gloves and bags will be provided, but volunteers can also bring their own. FRMC recommends a sturdy pair of work or hiking boots and to dress properly for the weather. They also recommend insect repellent.
