LACEY, NJ — Ahead of the next school year, school officials shared some updates of the updated Lacey School District curriculum.

At a recent Board of Education meeting, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction William Zylinski said that teachers are currently building the new curriculum.

The curriculum must then be reviewed by the district supervisor and ultimately by Zylinski himself, he said.

The curriculum committee will get their first look at the curriculum at their next meeting in August, Zylinski said.

"Our hope would be that either prior or near the next board meeting, we will post, we're going to do a video, so people can navigate," Zylinski said. The next board meeting will be held Aug. 18.

The ultimate goal is for all curriculums to be approved by Sept. 4, Zylinski said.

As promised, forums will be hosted to talk about aspects of the curriculum, especially the comprehensive health and physical education standards, Zylinski said. These standards have been the subject of controversy throughout New Jersey and particularly within the Lacey School District, where they have been addressed by the board multiple times.

The forums will be started "probably in August," Zylinski said.
