Dave Most's Last Township Committee Meeting An Emotional One

Dykoff a no-show

He’s run countless 5ks for a good cause. He’s flipped more burgers than he can remember at Lacey Township community events.

But the most important thing Township Committeeman David E. Most has done during his three terms on the governing body is to tell the truth about Lacey’s drug problem, Committeeman Peter Curatolo said.

“Dave helped bring it out into the open,” Curatolo said. “That’s more important than running a race or flipping burgers. That’s going to be his legacy.”

Lacey officials, members of the Lacey Municipal Alliance and several in the audience said goodbye to Most at an emotional Dec. 11 Township Committee meeting. They lauded his work during his time as a public official.

“Dave wears his heart on his sleeve,” Township Administrator Veronica Laureigh said. “He was in it only for the benefit of the community. He got along with everybody here. He was down right there in the trenches working along with us.”

Mayor Gary Quinn recalled the time Most had pledged to have a dive team at a lagoon in town to remove a sinking boat.

“He told me, ‘I‘ll meet you with the dive team.”

But Quinn couldn’t find him when he arrived at the lagoon.

“No Dave,” Quinn said. “But then up out of the water pops Dave’s head, with his scuba gear.”

The boat came out.

Most opted not to run for another term earlier this year. But his work with the Municipal a Alliance will continue.

“I’ve been blessed with this community,” Most said. “It’s been a great honor to serve this community. This town was my second family.”

Marie Krieger, a Municipal Alliance member and former longtime treasurer of the Lacey Republican Club, said future committee members should follow the example Most set as a township official.

“He has been one of the best guys that ever sat up there,” she said. “Dave, I love you.”

One seat on the committee dais was empty last night. Township Committeeman Mark Dykoff did not attend.

Dykoff was in Manchester Township Municipal Court last month to answer a simple assault summons filed by Lacey Township police, after Dykoff punched Most in the face at a Republican Club picnic in Gille Park in September.

Most agreed to drop the charge. But he had a simple request. He wanted Dykoff to publicly apologize to him in court. He got his apology.

Most will be replaced by Republican Nick Juliano, who won the lone seat on the Township Committee in November.
