LACEY, NJ — The vacant committee seat left by the passing of Lacey Mayor Nicholas Juliano was filled at Thursday night's meeting by Juliano's wife, Peggy Sue Juliano. The mayor role is being filled by Deputy Mayor Mark Dykoff.

"Mrs. Juliano stated that there was a lot of work that Nick wanted to accomplish and she will work towards meeting those goals and objectives on her husbands behalf and for the betterment of the community," officials announced on the Lacey website. They added that township Republicans have not had a woman sit on the governing body since 1999, so she is expected to add a different perspective.

"It has a been a very emotional first quarter of 2022. We entered 2022 with hope and optimism that the 2020 coronavirus pandemic was behind us, however we as a governing body and as a community were faced with another challenge, the loss of our fellow committee member and Mayor Nick Juliano," Dykoff said.
