Dixie's Legacy Foundation

Giving Back to the Community

New to Ocean County is Dixie's Legacy Foundation, a volunteer powered organization run by 5 women promoting the mission of helping animals and supporting EMS one rescue at a time based in Waretown. Dixie's Legacy was founded in March 2018 by Debbie L Quintana who is the President of the Organization. Named after a recent local Senior Dachshund that was found on Route 9 in Pine Beach, Quintana adopted her from the shelter and showered her with love during her final months.

“A desire and passion to make a difference in our communities regarding animals and EMS is the heart of Dixie's Legacy Foundation!” says Quintana. “We have an amazing group of volunteers that are dedicated to helping our cause and we are extremely grateful for the support we have received”.

This group already held a fundraiser in October that raised $11,668 dollars for the Volunteer Auxiliary for Animal Shelters (Jackson) to help homeless animals in Ocean County. In addition, they just started a “Rescue of the Month program” that acknowledges a rescue and awards the family with a gift card as well as acknowledgement of the rescue on Facebook and Instagram. In the spring they will be presenting The Robert Rebele Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a NJ certified EMT who is looking to continue his/her education as a Paramedic or RN. The scholarship was named after a local resident who was a part of EMS for over 30 years.
