Forked River Man Arrested For DWI After 3-Car Accident: Police

Berkeley police say they recently arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after they responded to a three-car accident.

Troy J. Apanel, 29, of Lacey, was arrested Dec. 26, police said.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Route 9 and Ocean Gate Drive. The crash only resulted in minor vehicle damage, police said.

Apanel displayed signs of impairment while they were gathering statements from parties involved in the accident. He was arrested after police performed sobriety tests.

The 29-year-old was released from police headquarters to the care of a family member. Police issued summonses for reckless driving, careless driving and following too closely. His vehicle was impounded as per John's Law.
