Frederick J. Morgan Jr., World War II Marine Veteran, Dies At 87

Services for Purple Heart recipient to be held on Saturday

Frederick J. Morgan, Jr., age 87, of Forked River passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin.

Frederick was born and raised in Bayonne and lived in Monroe Township before retiring to Forked River. He was a World War II Marine Veteran receiving a Purple Heart for his service. He wasa parishioner of St. Pius X RC Church in Forked River.

He enjoyed boating, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. For many years, he traveled with his wife in their motor home and wintered in Florida.

Mr. Morgan was predeceased by his son, Frederick Morgan, III and his brother and sister. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lois (nee Snyder) and his daughters, Karen Ruszczyk and her husband Joe and Kathleen Kelly and son, David Morgan and his wife Kathy. Also surviving are his brother, Edward and his wife, Ursula and sister, Beatrice Veith, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6:30 p.m. at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 Route 9 North in Forked River.Cremation is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Morgan’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, 370 7th Ave, New York, NY 10001.
