JCP&L Expects Power To Be Restored To All 24,000 Customers Shortly After 8 p.m. Spokesman Says

Repair crews on the scene repairing downed transmission line, restoring power by sections.

Power to all 24,000 customers affected by an outage late this afternoon should be restored shortly after 8 p.m. this evening, a Jersey Central Power & Light spokesman said.

More than 24,000 customers lost power in Lacey, Barnegat, Waretown and small areas of Berkeley Township.

The problem was with a downed transmission line in the area of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Plant, said JCP&L spokesman Scott Takac.

Power will gradually be restored by sections, what the company calls a "staged restoration," he said.

The outage knocked out almost all the traffic lights in Lacey Township, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.
