Judith M. Cooke Of Forked River Dies At 73

Services for former teacher at H and M Potter School to be held on Friday and Saturday.

Judith M. Cooke, age 73, of Forked River, died Monday October 5, 2015 at Tallwoods Care Center in Bayville.

Mrs. Cooke received her bachelor’s degree in education in 1970 from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison. She earned her master’s degree in 1989 from Jersey City State University. She also had a degree in learning disabilities teaching consultant from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Mrs. Cooke started her teaching career in Newark, coming to H&M Potter Elementary School, Bayville; where she became well known as an elementary educator. Prior to her retirement, she was with the Child Study Team. Mrs. Cooke was a member of the Republican, Women’s and the Garden Club, all of Lacey Township.

Surviving are her husband of 46 years Theodore R. “Ted” Cooke; her son and daughter in-law Theodore and Casey Cooke, Forked River, two grandsons TJ and Derek, her dog Baily, a brother Peter Mercuro, Jr. of North Carolina, her sister Cynthia M. Consi of Florida.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Layton’s Home For Funerals, Forked River. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of Saint Pius X, Forked River. Burial will follow at Good Luck Cemetery. Lanoka Harbor.
