Lacey Bank Teller Stole $212K From Customers: Police

LACEY, NJ — A Barnegat woman has been charged after a Lacey Township Police Department investigation into missing customer deposit funds at OceanFirst Bank in Forked River, according to police.

On July 24, the Lacey Township Police Department Detective Bureau arrested Tiffany Prutzman, 54, of Barnegat, New Jersey, after she surrendered herself at Lacey Township Police Headquarters.

Police said detectives, through a continuing investigation, determined that during her employment as a teller at OceanFirst Bank in Forked River, Prutzman stole about $212,400 in customer funds intended for deposit between 2024 and 2026.

As a result of that investigation, Prutzman was charged on criminal complaint warrants with theft by failure to make required disposition, a second-degree offense; money laundering, a second-degree offense; misapplication of property of a financial institution, a second-degree offense; computer criminal activity, a second-degree offense; and tampering with records, a third-degree offense.

She was processed and then transported to the Ocean County Jail, where she was lodged.
