LACEY, N.J. — The Lacey Township Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2 at Lacey Township High School. Part of the meeting includes a resolution approving eliminating up to 65 paraprofessional positions for the next school year.

The controversial plan to cut paraprofessional positions comes as Lacey's school district is set to receive a $623,156 cut in state funding for next school year, decreasing the budget by 2.97 percent to $20,347,244.

The special meeting will also include discussion on a proposed plan to replace the Lacey Township High School track. The estimated total cost is $546,000. State funding is not available for this project, according to officials.
