Lacey Elementary Student Racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway
Lacey Elementary School student Matthew Kovacs, sponsored by Tony's Workwear in Forked River, heads to Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Lacey Elementary School student Matthew Kovacs heads to the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC this upcoming weekend to race his quarter midget race car, sponsored by Tony’s Workwear, in the USAC .25 Midget Racing Series presented by Cook Out.
Matthew is 9 years old and has been racing since he was 5 years old. Last year he could be found at the town’s annual Lacey Day at Gillie Park, signing autographs for fans and showing off his race car.
This weekend he will be competing against the best quarter midget race car drivers in the country as they all come to Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC to compete for the winners trophy and bragging rights.

“I am very excited to go to Charlotte and race my quarter midget race car”, says Matthew. “It’s a lot of fun and one day I’m going to be a NASCAR driver and win the All-Star Race.”
While Matthew and his competitors are racing their race cars, the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series will be holding their annual All-Star Race where 20 drivers get to compete against each other at the Charlotte Motor Speedway with the winner taking home a cool looking trophy and a million bucks.
