LACEY, NJ — Other than dad jokes, giving advice is one of the things dads are best at. Ahead of Father's Day, Patch asked readers for the best piece of advice their dad ever gave them. Here's what Lacey Patchers had to say.
Many dads gave advice about saving money.
"Save $$ for a rainy day. You never know when you will need it when things get bad. Also don’t spend beyond your means. Also work, work, work," LouNan San said.

Dave Giombetti's dad shared a similar piece of advice. "Borrow money when you don't need it, cause when you do, you won't want to Borrow it."
Another common theme was knowing who to trust. Some said never to trust anyone, or in the case of Ken Jager, "only trust the dog."

"Some people will lead you to the gates of hell if you let them," Alan Drew's dad shared, meaning to know the difference between right and wrong and not being a follower.
Importantly, fathers told their children to be who they were, and to be proud of it.
"Be yourself," Kitty Kearney Perkins said. "Don’t just follow the crowd."
"Make sure you can live with the consequences of your choices..Because, life is the choices you make..." Bernadette Monari said.
