Lacey Police Arrest Howell Man For Attempted Burglary Of Lacey Diner

Alfred Oliveri, 57, also wanted in connection with several Brick Township burglaries, police chief says

Lacey police have charged a Howell Township man with the attempted burglary of the Lacey Diner in Forked River on Aug. 3, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Detectives worked from video footage from the shopping plaza taken during the early morning hours of Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, that showed an unknown suspect attempted to forcibly enter the rear door of the diner. The footage depicted a middle-aged, white male riding a bike in the area during the time of the attempted burglary, the chief said.

The field inquiry led to his arrest for the attempted burglary of the Lacey Diner. Detectives discovered that Oliveri was also wanted in connection with several burglaries in Brick Township, Paprota said.

Oliveri was charged for the Lacey incident with criminal attempt to commit burglary, criminal mischief, and possession of burglars tools. Oliveri was transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail issued by the Brick Township Municipal Court for the Brick Township commercial burglaries. Oliveri was also wanted by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department for failing to comply with regulations set forth by Drug Court, the chief said.

Lacey detectives recognized Oliveri from an investigation conducted by Lacey police in 2004, which led to his arrest and charge for several other commercial burglaries, Paprota said.
