Lacey Police Charge Forked River Man With Drunk Driving After He Left Scene Of Two Accidents

A Forked River man is facing two counts of drunk driving and numerous other charges after he fled the scene of not one, but two accidents on the same night, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

Officers Martin Julian and Andrew Slota responded to the area of Beach Boulevard and Route 9 in Forked River at 9:10 p.m. on April 17 on a report of a hit and run motor vehicle crash. The caller reported the suspect vehicle fled the scene heading north on Route 9. The vehicle then struck a second vehicle on Lakeside Drive South near Taylor Lane, the chief said.

The suspect was located on Elwood Street in Forked River. An investigation led to the arrest of John C. Molloy, 32, Elwood Street, for driving under the influence. He was transported to police headquarters, where he also received summonses for two counts of reckless driving, two counts of failure to maintain lane, two counts of failure to report an accident and two counts of leaving scene of an accident, DiBella said.

A passenger in the vehicle struck on Lakeside Drive South sustained minor injuries. Malloy's vehicle was impounded pursuant to John's Law.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending, the chief said.
