Lacey Police Charge Forked River Woman With Drunk Driving Twice On The Same Day

Police determined that Melony Gilchrist was intoxicated when she came to pick up her vehicle from previous DUI.

It was deja vu all over again.

Melony S. Gilchrist, Allwood Place, showed up at Lacey Township police headquarters recently to pick up early vehicle, which had been impounded by police after a previous drunk driving arrest.

Gilchrist came to headquarters at 2:27 p.m on July 27 to pick up her vehicle. She had been charged with drunk driving shortly after midnight on the same day, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

"While at police headquarters, Melony Gilchrist displayed signs of intoxication," the chief said. "An investigation determined she had driven to police headquarters and as a result, Officer Darrell Nick conducted a DUI investigation."

Gilchrist was again charged with driving under the influence. She was also charged with reckless driving, the chief said.
