Lacey Police Investigating Thefts From Two Local Businesses

Mrs. Walker's Ice Cream and the Captain's Inn were both affected, police chief says.

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Lacey police are investigating thefts from two different local businesses, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

The first involved Mrs. Walker's Ice Cream on Route 9 South in Forked River. Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the business at 12:34 am. on May 14 after a commercial burglar alarm on the front door of the building went off, the chief said.

The front door had been pushed in and was lying on the floor. An undisclosed amount of cash was discovered taken from the business. Damage to the door and the building is estimated at $250. Detective Keith Pearce is investigating, DiBella said.

In the second incident, police responded to the Captain's Inn on East Lacey Road at 12:05 p.m. on May 15, on a theft report. Police discovered that eight empty beer kegs, valued at $250, were stolen from the business over a two-day period from May 12 and May 13. Police obtained Video surveillance from the scene. The incident is still under investigation.
