Lacey's Popcorn Park Gets 2 New Senior Residents: Highland Cattle

LACEY, NJ — The Popcorn Park Animal Refuge is closed to the public, but two new residents have settled in. Evie and Sadie are Scottish highland cattle, who recently move to Popcorn Park.

Evie and Sadie are mother and daughter, and they're 21 and 19 years old, respectively. The lived together all their lives on a small, educational farm. But they needed a new home after the township that owned it closed it.

"Mom is just a sweetheart, loves to be brushed and groomed," the refuge wrote on Facebook. "Sadie not so much, she much rather her mom groom her, but we’re working on that."

They're both on medication to keep them comfortable during old age. But the girls can still pack away a bale of hay and 12 quarts of grain each day.

Their longevity is about 20 years, but they're both in good shape for their age. So Popcorn Park expects Evie and Sadie to be with them for a while.
