A Letter to the Editor from Thomas Crowell and Eric Schubiger
Tom Crowell and Eric Schubiger believe we need to help restore the sense of community that made Lacey Township an attractive destination for so many families for many years. Eric and Tom have both chosen to raise their families in Lacey and want other people to do the same.
The Crowell family has been involved in volunteering in the community for over 10 years. Tom has served as president, coach, and in many other capacities for Lacey Little League. His wife Christine has volunteered in every school PTA that their sons have attended and both sons have been altar servers at St. Pius for many years.

Professionally, Tom has spent the last twenty years as an employee benefits consultant working with small to mid-sized businesses to insure their employees. Being an expert in employee benefits gives him a unique understanding in an area of great expense to the township. Tom serves as the President of the Jersey Shore Association of Human Resources which gives him skills in the area of employment practices that our opponents cannot match.
The Schubigers are 40-year Lacey residents. Eric has served on the Lacey Board of Education for the last twelve years and is a volunteer coach in many sports organizations. His wife Dee is currently an elementary teacher in town and together they are raising three boys that all attend Lacey schools.

Professionally, Eric has extensive experience in the operation of municipal government. In his current position of Township Manager for Easthampton Township, he is responsible for the day to day operation of the township. He prepares budgets, makes employment recommendations, and negotiates contracts, along with many other duties. Clearly his experience will make him a qualified member of the Township Committee.
There are a number of things we would do differently than the administration currently led by Mayor Gary Quinn.
We have pledged to not take the $7,000 stipend that goes with the position on the Township Committee. We view the position on the Township Committee as a volunteer service to the residents of Lacey. We have also stated that we will not use our political service to gain employment or any government contracts for our friends and family.
Our agenda to improve this township focuses on three main areas:
Economic Development - We must improve our ability to recruit professional businesses into town to supply jobs that will lead people to sustainable careers. Higher paying jobs are the key to financial success for our residents and the township as a whole.
Youth and Senior Services - We can utilize some of the programs we have for senior citizens and integrate teens to have them work together to improve our community. We can revitalize the Junior Police Academy that brought young teens and our police department together to build relationships for the future.
Long Range Planning - Our current state of capital investment seems to be a set of reactions to equipment that is outdated and can be dangerous to our employees and volunteers as well as very expensive to maintain. We need to set up an actual schedule for equipment replacement that makes sense financially and keeps our services running efficiently. We believe that making sure our emergency services have the equipment they need to keep our residents safe should be a priority for government.
It is our belief that residents in Lacey Township are entitled to a choice. No one person should be able to dictate who is running for office and who can make the many important decisions affecting this township. We need to put an end to outside political bosses determining what is best for Lacey.
We are running in this election to make sure that residents have a say in what is going on. We have chosen Lacey Township to be the place to raise our families and we want Lacey to be the destination for other families as well. Business as usual is not working. We are the people’s choice for change.
