Meet Artemis: Popcorn Park's Newest Animal Ambassador
Artemis is a hybrid falcon who comes to Popcorn Park after retiring from her aerial shows at Medieval Times.
LACEY, NJ — Associated Humane Societies & Popcorn Park Animal Refuge has a brand new education ambassador, having recently retired from her day job. Her name is Artemis, and she's a hybrid falcon, who comes to the sanctuary after spending her days amazing audiences with her aerial show at Medieval Times in Lyndhurst.
Medieval Times decided to find Artemis a forever home, AHS announced in a news release, and chose Popcorn Park. Here, Artemis can enjoy a relaxing retirement, while continuing to educate the public. Artemis has officially joined the Refuge's Educational Program, where she'll be assisting with seminars at Popcorn Park as well at outreach events and school visits.
“As a Zoologist and Wildlife Educator, it is my honor to be in the presence of this fascinating creature. To work closely with her on a daily basis is a dream come true that I can’t wait to share with our visitors this year! I’m humbled by her beauty and power, and I’m positive that our guests will feel the same in her presence when they encounter Artemis at Popcorn Park,” said Danny Mendez, assistant director of Popcorn Park Animal Refuge.

“Artemis’s story is compelling and very fitting for such a big personality as hers. We’re honored that Medieval Times entrusted us with the next chapter in her life and we can’t wait to share her with all our Popcorn Park visitors this year!” Mendez said.
Popcorn Park said that they are excited to highlight her and familiarize their guests with the ancient art of falconry. She will make her debut the week of April 10. To sponsor Artemis and learn more about rescued animals at Popcorn Park Animal Refuge, visit AHSCares.org/popcorn-park.
