New Salon Opens With Specialty Hair Product Line

CreaTif Salon LLC. offers Aveda, a line of natural hare care products

A new salon has opened in Forked River and it features the only line of Aveda, a line of natural hair and skin care products, within 20 miles.

Nicole Craft Mitschke, a 2005 Lacey Township High School graduate, recently opened CreaTif Salon LLC located at 633 Lacey Road.

Mitschke grew up in Lacey and moved to New York City to train at the Carsten Aveda Institute where she later trained students.

While in New York City, Mitschke worked for five years at Carsten Union Square Salon with celebrity clients including actress Jane Curtain and model Molly Beers.

“What I’m hoping to do is bring a little bit of the hip, chic, NYC look to Lacey Township,” Mitschke said.

She began to run a salon when her boss had her baby and her husband was overseas serving in the military, sparking her desire to open her own salon.

“It made me want to run my own salon and train others,” Mitschke said.

She returned to Lacey because the township is family oriented and purchased the salon in January 2011, Mitschke said.

“My husband and I were in the process of house hunting and bought a salon instead,” Mitschke said.

CreaTif Salon offers new dryers, color highlights, haircuts, weave and feather extensions, fusion extension, perms, chemical straightening, and facial waxing.

“We have a lot of plans for the place. We’re just waiting to get settled,” Mitschke said.

The salon also offers Aveda, a product line that is only sold in specialty stores.

The company selects salons after an evaluation of their plans and intentions to promote the product line.

Mitschke, who was featured in 2009’s Manhattan Bridal magazine for being NYC’s top bridal hair stylist, has worked with Aveda’s color line for six years.

She also took classes with Arrojo from The Learning Channel’s “What Not to Wear,” Frederic Fekkai, Bob Yosh and Bumble and Bumble Salon.

Mitschke has styled fashion shows for the Saint Jude’s Hospital Charity Event, Macy’s 34th Street NYC Prom Fashion Show for Seventeen Magazine, and for Macy’s Intimate Apparel’s Lingerie Line.

A women’s haircut is $40, men’s is $20, and children’s is $15. For more information on haircuts, styling, coloring, chemical treatments, and waxing call 609-242-8004.
