NRC Seeks Lacey's Input At Meeting On Oyster Creek

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Lacey residents will have the opportunity to speak with Nuclear Regulatory Commission representatives in a public meeting. The meeting will focus on the decommissioning process of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generation Station.

The event is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Oct. 3 at Holiday Inn Manahawkin/Long Beach Island (151 Route 72 W, Manahawkin). The meeting may end early based on participation.

The NRC said they seek public participation to fully engage in a discussion on regulatory issues. A questionnaire will be available at the meeting for input the NRC is required to include in a report to Congress.

Topics will include the following:

  • 6-6:45 p.m.: NRC staff introductions and presentation on NEIMA Section 108
  • 6:45-7 p.m.: feedback from community officials and members of the local community advisory boards (if applicable)
  • 7-9 p.m.: feedback and questions from the public

NEIMA Section 108 requires a report on best practices for establishment and operation of local community advisory boards for decommissioning nuclear reactors.
