Paul William Barcalow, Longtime Member And Former Chief Of Forked River Fire Company Dies At 66

Lifelong resident was a member of the fire department for 44 years.

Paul William Barcalow, age 66, of Forked River died on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015 at his home.

Born in Lakewood, he was a lifelong resident of Forked River. Paul was a boilermaker with Local 28 of Easthamptom for 35 years, retiring in 2005. Mr. Barcalow was a member and Past-Chief of the Forked River Fire Department, where he served for 44 years.

Paul was predeceased by his wife of 46 years Beverly in November of 2014. Surviving are their four children, Dennis and his wife Coleen, Greg and his wife Julie, Shawn and his wife Kristan, and Holly Gebhardt and her husband Dave all of Forked River, grandchildren Ashlyn, Melissa, Tyler, Russell, Travis and Domenic, his great-granddaughter Nicolette. Also surviving are his parents, Bill and Helen Barcalow, two sisters Janet Montegna and Carol Herbert both of Wagner, SC along with his extended family, many friends and his in-laws.

A viewing will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2015 and again on at 10 a.m. on Friday from until the time of the funeral service at 11a.m. at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Main Street (Route 9) Forked River. I,nterment will follow in Good Luck Cemetery, Lanoka Harbor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Forked River Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 32, Forked River, NJ 08731 in Paul’s memory. -
