Person Critical After Nearly Drowning In Lacey: Police

The person was saved from Barnegat Bay waters and is hospitalized in critical condition, police said.

LACEY, NJ — A person who nearly drowned in Barnegat Bay in Lacey was hospitalized in critical condition, police said.

Police responded to the Bayfront Park area of Forked River at 11:17 a.m. Tuesday for the report of a possible drowning victim in the bay, according to a news release.

Officer Jason Lee, Officer Martin Julian, and Officer Colin Space arrived first on scene and entered the water. With the help of a passing boater, the officers were able to lift the person from the water, police said.

Officers immediately started CPR and took the person to a nearby beach to continue lifesaving efforts, police said.

The person was taken to Community Medical Center, where they are in critical condition, police said.
