Police Find Teenage Driver And Passenger Sleeping In Car With Heroin

Lacey police recently charged a 17-year-old Lacey girl and a 20-year-old Lacey man with heroin possession after an officer found them asleep in a parked car with the interior lights on, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Officer Michael Verwey was on patrol at 3:11 a.m. on Oct. 29 when he spotted a red Chevrolet Cavalier with its interior light on stopped in front of a residence on the 900 block of Center Street in Forked River, the chief said.

When Verwey approached the car, he saw the female asleep in the driver’s seat and the man sleeping in the rear passenger seat.

Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the female driver and Timothy Daff, South Seas Drive, Barnegat, for possession of heroin and possession of a hypodermic syringe, the chief said.

Both subjects were taken to police headquarters.The female was charged on a juvenile complaint with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic syringe, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. She was turned over to her mother’s custody.
