Popcorn Park Assists In 100-Goat Rescue From 'Hoarding' Situation
The original owner realized she was in over her head and asked for help.
LACEY, N.J. — A South Jersey woman with more than 100 goats realized she was in over her head. Lacey's Popcorn Park Animal Refuse has assisted her with an ongoing project to put them all in local sanctuaries and rescues.
Popcorn Park took in a family of seven and another family of four. The park said the goats are semi-feral, having only known and trusted their owner. It will take them time to adjust to their new homes and new people.
"We are all very thankful that she realized she needed help and reached out to these two rescue groups instead of abandoning them or selling them for meat," Popcorn Park Animal Refuge posted on Facebook. "Although it may seem easy to point blame on the owner, we ask all to remain respectful and not post negative comments."

The rescue project began with assistance from Rancho Relaxo and Happy Heart-Happy Home Farm and Rescue. Over half of the goats have been rescued, and all the males were neutered.
The goats are beginning to trust Popcorn Park already, taking molasses treats as they get acquainted. One of the goats even gave birth to a healthy kid Friday.

"They all are being quarantined from our other goats until they are vaccinated and cleared by our veterinarians," Popcorn Park Animal Refuge posted on Facebook. "Until then, they will remain separate and given the time and patience needed to make this transition easier on them."
