Public Hearing On Lacey School Budget Is Tonight

Lacey residents will have a chance to tell Board of Education members what they think of the 2015-2016 proposed budget at a public hearing at the Lacey Township High School tonight.

The 2015-2016 budget totals $65,793,102, up $988,256 or 1.52 percent from last year, according to the district website.

The amount to be raised by taxation will rise to $42,420,625, up $1,027,145, or 2.48 percent from last year.

The school tax rate will rise to $1.221 for each $100 of assessed valuation, up 2.45 cents from last year.

The budget calls for the layoff of two teachers, one secretary and five aides in the health offices.

The meeting gets underway at 6 p.m. in the lecture hall at Lacey Township High School.
