Roads to Recovery of New Jersey Inc.

A peer run organization that seeks to help those in recovery for addictions and or mental illness.

Roads to Recovery of New Jersey Inc. is a peer run
organization that seeks to help those in recovery for addictions and or
mental illness.
Our mission is as follows: We believe all people
come first. We support both the mentally ill and/or addicted person and
their support system. We believe in meeting people where they are at
today and helping them on their road to recovery.

Roads to Recovery will start by running a Double Trouble in Recovery
group once every two weeks. We are still looking at locations and times
that we can hold them. Roads to Recovery is looking to locate in either
Stafford Township or Lacey. The organization looks to serve the southern
Ocean County population. Roads to Recovery would like to hold the
meeting in the late afternoon or evenings, so that most people with jobs
will be able to attend. The organization will promote these meetings
through social media and networking with mental health and addiction
agencies. We will post flyers anywhere that we are able to in the local
vicinity. We will also put ads in the newsletters the local hospitals
and behavioral health centers already put out.

Roads to Recovery
plans on expanding our offerings to include weekly educational programs
that will involve topics such as learning coping skills and learning
about the consumers’ illnesses. We would like to hold two meetings a
week. In each meeting we will run one addiction group and one mental
health group, followed by a Double Trouble meeting. The running time for
each group should be 45 minutes. Roads to Recovery plans to offer
transportation as soon as finances allow.
Roads to Recovery peers
will be required to go to recovery coach training through CCAR and/or
CORE training through The Mental Health Association of New Jersey within
one year of opening or their starting date. Continuing education for
the peers will be required through classes offered by various programs.

Roads to Recovery will work with other peer run organizations dealing
with addictions and mental illness. The organization will build strong,
positive relationships with local and state law enforcement agencies.
This will be accomplished by directly working with the other
organizations in their fundraising and awareness campaigns. Roads to
Recovery will also host dinners with law enforcement agencies. The
organization’s purpose for building a relationship with law enforcement
is to bridge the gap between the two communities. Roads to Recovery
wants consumers to be comfortable with law enforcement so that they will
call on them if needed.
