Lacey coach Lou Vircillo became just the third coach in the Shore Conference to reach the 250-win mark for his career as the host Lions improved to 2-0 with a 37-20 victory over Toms River North.
The Mariners led 14-7 after the first quarter on a pair of Carmen Sclafani touchdown runs. But the Lions took control as Bill Belford, who scored on a 99-yard kickoff return in the first quarter, caught a pair of touchdown passes in the second.

Middletown South 28, Brick 0: Jake Ripnick scored two touchdowns Justin Chenoweth returned a fumble for another as the Eagles (1-0) beat the host Dragons. Brick's defense grabbed three interceptions in the first half but was unable to convert.
Long Branch 27, Monmouth 0: Deon Williams rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown, Avry Griffin passed for a 62-yard touchdown and scored on a 54-yard run, and the Green Wave improved to 2-0 with a win over the visiting Falcons.
Williams, the brother of two men killed in a crash after a high-speed police chase in Tinton Falls earlier this week, dedicated his touchdown -- Long Branch's final score of the game -- to his brothers' memory, according to APP.com.
Monsignor Donovan 18, Lakewood 14: Grant Klimek scored a touchdown, kicked a field goal and sacked the quarterback for a safety as the Griffins rallied to beat the host Piners. Connor Hanifin also had a touchdown for Donovan (1-1).
Holmdel 28, Middlesex 0: Rob Cantelli rushed for three touchdowns and threw a 25-yard scoring pass to Mark Sherzer as the Hornets won at Middlesex.
