'Shell-A-Bration' Volunteer Event Set For Lacey

Join the American Littoral Society for a night of fun after helping add live oysters to Forked River's living shoreline.

FORKED RIVER, NJ — Join the American Littoral Society for a "shell-a-bration" in September.

On Sept. 13, help add live oysters to the Forked River Beach living shoreline from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wear closed toe shoes and clothes that are okay to get dirty. Gloves and tools will be provided.

Then, "shell-a-brate" from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with grilled oysters and live music.

This event will be held next to 1818 Beach Boulevard in Forked River Beach. Visit the American Littoral Society to register to volunteer.

This volunteer event is part of the American Littoral Society's living shoreline project to build seven oyster reefs in Barnegat Bay. The goal is to reduce erosion, improve water quality and create habitats. Click here for more project information.
