State Ups Rental Assistance Money For Sandy Victims
Department of Community Affairs also increases amount of time victims can collect from six months to nine months.
Residents hit hard by Superstorm Sandy can now receive up to $1,300 a month in rental assistance while their homes are being repaired or elevated, according to the state Department of Community Affairs.
The previous monthly allocation for those enrolled in the Rental Assistance Program was $825. The state has also increased the amount of time Sandy victims can receive assistance from six months to nine months, according to app.com.
The Rental Assistance Program was started in March by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (HMFA).

The assistance money and length of time recipients can receive it was increased because rental costs are higher than projected and some people are out of their homes for longer than anticipated.
