Status Hearing On Suspended Lacey Superintendent Postponed Until June 24

Sandra D. Brower was slated to appear in Monmouth County court on June 10

A status hearing on suspended schools Superintendent Sandra D. Brower has been rescheduled for June 24, according to Monmouth County court papers.

Brower, 46, was due for a status hearing yesterday before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Francis J. Vernoia. But the hearing was postponed until later this month.

Edward C. Bertucio, of the Red Bank-based firm Hobbie Corrigan & Bertucio, has said he wanted the “earliest possible trial date in an effort to gain the immediate exoneration of Sandra Brower, to clear her name and seek her reinstatement in her current position.’’

A Monmouth County grand jury indicted the former assistant superintendent of Wall Township Schools on May 6 on charges she failed to immediately report a possible sexual assault of a 4-year-old special needs student by a teacher and then lied to police and tried to cover up her inaction, according to the indictment.

Brower, Allenwood-Lakewood Road, Wall Township, was indicted on charges of official misconduct, hindering and obstruction. She later pleaded not guilty.
