Polls close in less than four hours and according to representatives from various sites, turnout has been fairly steady in the general election that could lead to a party power shift on Lacey’s committee.
Although workers at the polling locations said crowds have been stable, at approximately 2 p.m., Township Administrator Veronica Laureigh said it was light.
“It’s an off year election. It doesn’t get a lot of people coming out,” she said.

Committeeman David Most, whose term is up Dec. 31, 2011, is up for re-election on the Republican ticket while Democratic newcomer Gary Vaccaro will try to earn the seat.
The general election can lead to a power shift if Vaccaro is voted in since the committee has been maintained by a Republican majority for more than a decade.

For those who did go out to the polls, change and taxes seemed to be on their minds.
“Naturally I came out to make the vote count,” Laura Smith said. “We need change and we need to keep taxes low.”
“It comes back to the people who want the road built versus those who want change,” Taryn Lawless said.
And others were simply exercising their right to vote.
“It’s always important to be a part of our society and vote for who we think should be in office,” Lisa Gerber said.
Voting in the local election is as important as the national election, Jim Doubek said.
“This is the place where we have the most impact,” he said.
The Candidates
While Most will be awaiting results at the Captain’s Inn, Vaccaro will be at home.
“I’m feeling very confident because we’re a Republican based town and we have a lot of work to do,” Most said. “I respect Vaccaro but we’re doing much more with less people and we can’t cut anymore unless we cut services…He keeps saying Dave Most increases taxes. Dave Most does not sit alone on the committee.”
With this election being Vaccaro’s first, he could not predict the outcome, he said.
“I’m feeling fine,” he said. “I’m very proud of the campaign that we ran and with regard to how it turns out, it’s really been a great experience and I’ve enjoyed campaigning. Hopefully I got my message across.”
