Thomas H. Vollmar Of Lacey Township Dies At 49

Thomas H. Vollmar, age 49, went home on Monday, October 6, 2014.

Thomas was born and had lived in Rahway for most of his life. He was an animal lover who enjoyed Mickey Mouse and Disney World. His favorite character was Cloud Kicker from the cartoon Tail Spin. Tom was an avid sports fan. He liked classical music and Yanni. Tom’s friends said he was witty, kind, wonderful, funny, and a peacemaker.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, Herbert Vollmar and Judith Rhodes. He is survived by his sister, Joanne Eckert of Forked River; a half brother, Peter Ortiz of McMinnville, TN; and his aunt, Beverly Vollmar. Also surviving are his niece and nephew, John Eckert and Lindsay Hart; three great nieces; one great-nephew; and many friends.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Rt. 9 (aka Main Street), Forked River, NJ 08731. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Friend of Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter, PO Box 1162, Manahawkin, NJ 08050 in Thomas’ memory.
