VIDEO: Lacey 8th-Graders Graduate
Principal: Kids 'realized they were a team and acted like they truly were a part of the school community'
The Lacey Township Middle School held its eighth-grade graduation at the high school football field on Thursday, with 396 graduates receiving their diplomas. Five students honored for their academic achievement included Rachel Camaligan, Ryan Corbley, Kipp Hopper, Christopher Iapicco and Frank Kasmer.
Middle School Building Principal Jim Handschush said this year's class was the best group he's ever worked with, in terms of respect, work ethic and attitude.
"They realized they were a team and acted like they truly were a part of the school community, a part of our middle school family," said Handschush, who has been in education for 15 years.

Christopher Iapicco, one of the five achievement award recipients, said he loved his middle school experience.
"We had a lot of good teachers," said Iapicco, whose favorite subjects are science and math. "They knew what they were talking about, and they were willing to teach you one on one."
