12 Officers Join Lakewood Police Force

The officers are undergoing training; some will begin patrols soon, Police Chief Gregory Meyer said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Twelve police officers — nine patrol officers and three Class 2 officers — have been hired by the Lakewood Township Police Department, Police Chief Gregory Meyer announced.

The officers took their oaths on April 17, Meyer said, replacing 12 officers who retired recently.

The new officers have been undergoing in-service training "and some will be hitting the streets soon," Meyer said. The rest will be headed to the Ocean County Police Academy for training.
