Lakewood PD Find Crack Cocaine, Counterfeit Pills During Proactive Patrol Stop

Officers arrested a 40-year-old Lakewood resident on drug possession charges after Sunday's traffic stop on John Street.

LAKEWOOD, NJ - A Lakewood man faces drug charges after a police K-9 alerted to narcotics in his vehicle during a traffic stop Sunday, the Lakewood Police Department said.

Officers stopped the vehicle following suspicious activity observed during proactive patrol in the area of John Street on Sunday. A department K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, leading officers to recover suspected crack cocaine, counterfeit narcotics pills, and items associated with drug distribution.

The driver, Santo Davila, 40, of Lakewood, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and transported to Ocean County Jail pending court proceedings. He was also issued several motor vehicle summonses.

Chief Gregory H. Meyer praised the officers involved in the arrest.

"Our officers continue to do an outstanding job proactively addressing narcotics activity and quality of life concerns throughout the township," Meyer said. "Their vigilance and teamwork are helping keep our community safe every day."

The investigation remains ongoing.
