LAKEWOOD, NJ — The Lakewood Police Department is advising motorists to expect temporary traffic delays as two major road improvement projects begin on Tuesday, July 28.

According to officials, a New Jersey Department of Transportation contractor will resurface and upgrade Route 9between 2nd Street and Route 88. The project is expected to last approximately two weeks, with at least one lane of traffic remaining open in each direction throughout construction.

At the same time, a New Jersey Natural Gas contractor will replace gas lines along Cedar Bridge Avenue between Hurley Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. That project is expected to take about one week, with one lane of traffic maintained in each direction.

Officials said the projects were intentionally scheduled during a period of lighter seasonal traffic to help minimize disruptions.

Lakewood police officers will be on hand to assist with traffic control as needed. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use caution when driving through the construction zones.
