Bus Driver Faces Charges After Crash In Lakewood: Police
Police say the driver was illegally crossing Central Avenue when the bus was hit by a minivan.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A Lakewood bus driver is expected to face charges after a collision with a minivan on Monday morning, police said.
The crash happened at the intersection of Central Avenue and Bradshaw Road just before 9:30 a.m. Monday, Lakewood Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.
Raymond Schlombert, 63, of Lakewood, was driving a bus for Klarr Transportation Service and was crossing Central Avenue when the bus was hit by a 2001 Toyota Sienna. The bus was crossing Central Avenue illegally, Staffordsmith said.

There were 36 children on the bus at the time, but there were no injuries to the children, he said.
The driver of the minivan, Gitty Olshin, 39, also of Lakewood, was driving west on Central Avenue when he hit the bus. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment after he complained of pain.

The investigation is continuing but Staffordsmith said police expect to issue summonses to Schlombert after the investigation is complete.
