Staffordsmith said the investigation into the carjacking at the bus terminal led authorities to the Carasaljo Inn at the corner of Route 9 and 5th Street, where police believed the suspect was hiding in one of the motel rooms.

The Lakewood Police Department Special Response Team was sent to the motel and, once they obtained a search warrant, ordered the man to come out of the room.

Details on charges or the identities of those arrested were not immediately available.

News 12 New Jersey published video showing police armed with rifles outside a room at the motel, which is five blocks from the bus terminal.

Staffordsmith said additional information would be released when it becomes available.
