Charges Filed After School Bus Nearly Hits Lakewood Boy
The frightening Feb. 14 incident had led to charges for both the driver and the bus company, police said.
LAKEWOOD, NJ — Charges have been filed against a bus driver and against the bus company in Lakewood in connection with an incident where a student nearly got hit after getting off the school bus.
Lakewood Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said several motor vehicles summonses have been issued to Congregation Talmud Torah Toras Yisroel and the driver, Moses Weisburger, 41, of Lakewood, in connection with the Feb. 14 incident.
Video showed the 7-year-old boy getting off the bus on Feb. 14 in front of a home on Chestnut Street. As the boy started to cross the street in front of the bus, the bus started to move forward but stopped just in time to avoid hitting the boy.

The summonses were for missing safety equipment and the state Motor Vehicle Commission issued several citations for failure to maintain records, Staffordsmith said.
Both the bus company owner and Weisburger are expected to be in court in early March, he said.
Attempts to locate contact information for Congregation Talmud Torah Toras Yisroel, a private elementary school for boys in Lakewood, for comment have been unsuccessful.
