LAKEWOOD, NJ — Lakewood police are continuing to investigate the death of a young child who was found in a car outside a home on Monday.

Lakewood Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith on Tuesday said the investigation into the death of the 21-month-old child was still unfolding and that more details will be released as they become available.

The child, a girl, was discovered by a neighbor, the Asbury Park Press reported, quoting Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein. CPR was performed, but the girl died later at the hospital, the report said.
