Cocaine, Heroin, Stolen Handgun Seized In Ocean Drug Bust: Prosecutor

BRICK, NJ — A Lakewood man has been arrested after heroin, fentanyl, cocaine and a stolen handgun were seized from a home he was using to store and distribute drugs in the county, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday.

Raheem M. Montgomery, 30, was arrested Aug. 3, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Investigators identified a home in Brick as the site Montgomery was using to store the drugs, and on Aug. 3, detectives conducting surveillance saw Montgomery leave the house and go to Point Pleasant, where he stopped at a gas station, Billhimer said.

While detectives were detaining Montgomery, the Brick Township Police Department Special Emergency Response Team executed a court-authorized search warrant on the home. Their investigation turned up about 10 grams of cocaine, 350 wax folds of heroin/fentanyl, 1 pound of marijuana, drug paraphernalia indicative of narcotics distribution, a stolen handgun with a high-capacity magazine, hollow-point ammunition, and about $7,300 in cash, Billhimer said.

Montgomery has been charged with possession of less than a half-ounce of cocaine with intent to distribute; possession of heroin/fentanyl with intent to distribute; possession of 1 ounce or more but less than 5 pounds of marijuana with intent to distribute; possession of cocaine; possession of heroin/fentanyl; possession of drug paraphernalia; being a certain person not to possess a firearm; possession of a weapon during a controlled dangerous substance offense; possession of a stolen firearm; possession of a prohibited weapon or device — specifically a high capacity magazine; possession of a prohibited weapon or device — specifically hollow point ammunition; and financial facilitation.

He is being held at the Ocean County Jail in Toms River pending a detention hearing.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force and Asset Forfeiture Unit, Brick Township Police Department's Patrol Division, Special Enforcement Response Team, Street Crimes and K-9 units, and the Point Pleasant Borough Detective Bureau collaborated on the investigation and the arrest.
