Breaking: There were no injuries in the crash, but both drivers received summonses, police said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A school bus skidded off the road into a tree following an accident in Lakewood on Tuesday morning, Lakewood police said.

Detective Sgt. LeRoy Marshall said there were four students on the bus at the time of the accident, which happened about 8:30 a.m. near New Central Avenue and Miller Road in Lakewood.

The students, ranging in age from 7 to 12 years old, were not injured, he said, nor was the bus driver injured.

The bus slid off the road following a collision with a car, Marshall said, but full details on the circumstances were not yet available. Both the bus driver and the driver of the car were issued summonses, he said.

Roads throughout Ocean County were icy following the overnight storm that dropped a few inches of snow across much of the area, prompting a warning from the Ocean County Sheriff's Office via Nixle and its social media accounts to allow extra travel time.
